The Holiday Program for People with Huntington's Disease (HD) - Who is Eligible to Attend?

To be eligible to attend the holiday camp you must be able to walk, sit, stand, dress, undress, shower, eat, drink and use the toilet without requiring assistance. However if a carer is accompanying you we will assess your eligibility on that basis and through discussion with your carer.

If you require a modified diet you must provide us with a copy of the speech pathologist/dietician's recommendations and undertake to provide us with revised recommendations as they are made. Alternatively, you may authorise your speech pathologist and/or dietician to provide us with your recommendations on an ongoing basis.

You must also complete a personal health history form and provide contact details for both yourself and at least 2 persons ("next of kin") who can be contacted on your behalf in an emergency.

You must tell us if you have dietary exclusions (e.g. if you are a vegetarian or require a diabetic diet).

A modified diet means:

People with HD and their families can contact the Association directly for guidelines or more information on attending. The NSW Huntington Disease Service staff or anybody else can recommend people who would like to go on a holiday camp to the Association. But ultimately the person with HD or his/her representative must talk to us to find out whether the camp is suitable for them.
